TUMBLETON COMMUNITY…Jean Gamble “Granny” Ethridge, a resident of the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, died Wednesday morning, November 16, 2016, in a Dothan hospital. She was 73.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 18, 2016, in the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Joey Pettis and Reverend Ashley Culp officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the New Zion Free Will Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o David Teat, 10033 County Road 47, Shorterville, Alabama 36373.
Mrs. Ethridge was a native of Tumbleton and was reared in Henry County and Panama City, Florida. She returned to Tumbleton in 1959. Mrs. Ethridge was an active member of the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church where she served as the church pianist, youth director and sang in the choir. She was currently employed as the President of Ethridge Abstractors, Inc. In earlier years, she was employed by the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in medical records and also as a school bus driver for the Henry County Board of Education. Mrs. Ethridge was preceded in death by her father, James Martin Gamble, her mother, Maggie Ruth Shelley Morris, her step-father, Henry D. Morris, a son, Kim H. “Rooster” Ethridge, a brother, Tommy Ray Gamble and a son-in-law, Ben Feltman.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Kenneth B. Ethridge, a daughter, Kendra Feltman, Dothan; a son, Keith Ethridge (Debbie), Headland; a daughter-in-law, Tami Ethridge, Headland; a brother, Larry Gamble, Tumbleton Community; a granddaughter, Courtney D. Ethridge.
