Jean McCurry Beeker Johnson, 97, of Dothan passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 10 am Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson was born July 26, 1914 in Searles, AL and lived the early part of her life in Walker County, AL. She was employed with the Birmingham Board of Education as a clerk in the attendance office for more than 30 years until her retirement in 1984. Mrs. Johnson was very devoted to her family and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include her son James R. "Bob" Beeker (Jean) of Cowarts; a daughter Martha Henderson of Dothan; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 step children, Shirley Johnson, Lee Johnson, and Walter Johnson all of Grove Hill, AL; several nieces and nephews also survive.
