HEADLAND . . . Jeanette Carlile Sims, a resident of County Road 3, Headland, died early Saturday afternoon in Headland at the home of a granddaughter, Sandie Sims Rigsby, surrounded by her loving family. She was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 27, 2012 in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with her son Reverend Wayne Sims and Reverend Danny Quincey officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church “Building Fund”, 2240 County Road 79, Dothan, AL 36303.
Mrs. Sims was born and reared in the Sylvan Grove Community, daughter of the late Guy Walton Carlile and Ethel Jenkins Carlile. She lived in Headland before moving to the McKay Store community several years ago. Mrs. Sims was retired from Baumann Pharmacy in Headland as the bookkeeper after thirty years of employment. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant (Wiggins) Baptist Church. Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Frank Sims; a great-great-granddaughter, Cassandra Mallory; a brother, Bryan Hill Carlile.
Surviving relatives included three sons, Reverend Wayne Sims and wife, Paula, Fultondale, Alabama, Benny Sims and wife, Sue, Headland, and Charles Sims and wife, Shelia, Ashford; eight grandchildren, Sandie Rigsby, Carrie Campion, Jeannie Barbour, Gene Sims, Dana Smith, Ashley Shirah, Natalie Williams and John Paul Sims; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; an aunt, Collier Jenkins Chambers, El Paso, Texas; sisters-in –law from the Sims family, Betty Fowler, Jacksonville, FL, Hazel Cawley, Ozark and Joann Wooten and husband Seabern, Anderson, SC; several nieces and nephews including Brian Hill Carlile and wife, Suzi, Ozark; special niece Glenda Hoffman, Midland City and sister-in-law, Jo Lynn Carlile Roberson.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Gentiva Hospice for their loving care given to Mrs. Sims and her family.
