ABBEVILLE, AL…..Jeanette Hamilton Geiger, a resident of Abbeville, died early Monday afternoon, January 16, 2012, at her home. She was 94.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2012, in Lakeside Christian Fellowship with Reverend Mickey Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Lakeside Christian Fellowship, P.O. Box 218, Abbeville, AL 36310 or to Gentiva Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mrs. Geiger was a native of Henderson County, North Carolina, daughter of the late John Bunyun Hamilton and Venier McCrary Hamilton. She lived in Sanford, Florida for over twenty years before moving to the Screamer community of Henry County in 1979. Mrs. Geiger was a former member of the Abbeville Extension Club, the Screamer Craft Club and the Shorterville Young At Heart Senior Group. She also had been active in several volunteer organizations in the area over the years. Mrs. Geiger was the oldest member of Lakeside Christian Fellowship. She enjoyed playing the piano and fiddle for various senior events in Abbeville and surrounding areas.
Mrs. Geiger was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert F. Gibbs, Sr., Randall Kinard and Clyde Geiger, her daughter, Ruby Gibbs, two sisters, Geneva Hamilton Bell and Lena Hamilton Cabe, two brothers, France Hamilton and Tom Hamilton.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Al Gibbs and wife, Bonne, Abbeville, AL: and David Gibbs, Sanford, FL; a step-daughter, Joan Gasperson, Ashville, NC; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Lamar Dominey, Wayne Cost, Lawrence Durden, Dennis Stinson, Jimmy Williams and David Pair.
