Obituary
Jeanette James, age 87 of Crestview, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 8, 2022. She was born at home in Cottonwood, Alabama on October 5, 1935, to Cecil and Berlie Mae Love. Jeanette graduated from Cottonwood High School at the top of her class in 1953 and continued her education at Troy University. She took her last final on Mach 8, 1957 and started her career as a teacher on March 11, 1957. She devoted thirty years as a teacher and retired in 1988. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Crestview and loved to teach Sunday School. Jeanette was regularly active with The Florida Girl State and loved spending time with her grandchildren, working in her yard, reading, and writing poetry. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Geraldine Grice, and her husband of 51 years, Bill James.
Jeanette is survived by her daughter Jennifer Cutchens and husband, Chris; grandchildren Courtney Leonard and husband Jeff; Jameson Cutchens and fiancé Katelyn; and her great granddaughter, Collins Leonard; brother, Robert Love and his wife Joy; sisters Larnette Lewis and her husband Charles; and Annette Love, along with other relatives and many friends.
A time of visitation with the family will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst Powell Funeral, with the celebration of her life at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Heritage Gardens Cemetery in Niceville, FL.
