HEADLAND, AL…..Agnes Jeanette Parker Granberry, a resident of the Bethlehem community, near Headland, died Friday morning, November 18, 2011, at her home. She was 90.



            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 21, 2011, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverend Norman C. Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.



            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church Building Fund, 2506 State Highway 134, East, Headland, AL 36345.



            Mrs. Granberry was born and reared in the Bethlehem community of Henry County, daughter of the late William Clive Parker and Dutchie Lee Spann Parker. She was a 1939 graduate of Headland High School. Mrs. Granberry lived in various locations in the U.S., Panama Canal Zone and Jacksonville, Florida while her husband served in the U.S. Navy. She returned to Headland in 1966 where she was an active member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and participated in the W.M.U., Sunday School and various other church activities. Mrs. Granberry was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Headland Garden Club and the Headland Study Club. She was formerly employed by U. S. Civil Service at Fort Rucker. In earlier years, Mrs. Granberry was employed by Civil Service at the U. S. Naval Air Station in Jacksonville. She enjoyed traveling and reading, but nothing was more important and more enjoyable to her than caring for her family, home and yard. Mrs. Granberry was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Darnell and a brother, Billy H. Parker.



            Surviving relatives include her husband of sixty-six years, Franklin Glenis Granberry, Headland; a daughter, Reverend Glenda Granberry Davis and husband, Marvin; a son, Frank Parker Granberry and wife, Vicki; a brother, Mike Parker and wife, Carole; a sister-in-law, Joy Parker, all of Headland; a brother-in-law, Bill Granberry, Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren, Janet Davis Hasson and husband, Robert, Antibes, France; John Davis and wife, Dawn, Manhattan, N.Y.; Chad Granberry and wife, Savannah, Headland; Dustin Granberry and wife, Beth, Alpharetta, GA; three great-grandchildren, Lucie Hasson, Amelie Hasson and Ben Granberry; many nieces and nephews.



            Serving as active pallbearers will be John Davis, Chad Granberry, Dustin Granberry, Bill Jack Granberry, Jim Parker and Chris Parker.



            The family extends a special thank you to Sarah Chalmers, who cared for our loved one for over two years. We also appreciate her other caregivers, including the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice (formerly Wiregrass Hospice).
