ABBEVILLE. . .Jeanette Starling Trammell, a resident of the Brown’s Crossroads Community of Henry County, died Monday morning, December 18, 2017, at her home. She was 85.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2017, in the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church, Tumbleton Community, with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o David Teat, 10033 County Road 47, Shorterville, AL 36373.
Mrs. Trammell was a lifelong resident of the Brown’s Crossroads Community of Henry County, daughter of the late Charlie Ross Starling and Agnes Hutto Starling. She was an active member of the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church where she was a member of the church choir and participated in the children’s programs. Mrs. Trammell was employed by the Dothan Progress in the Headland office for many years. In later years, she was employed as a Teacher’s Aide at the Abbeville Elementary School. Mrs. Trammell was preceded in death by two infant daughters, two brothers, Bob Starling and Floyd Starling and a sister, Frances Bodiford.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Sam Trammell; two daughters, Tami Armstrong (Wayne), Abbeville; and Vicki Norton (Bill), Columbia; seven grandchildren, Laci Meis (Jonathan), Alex Isaac (Sarah), Sterling King Armstrong, Cody Armstrong, Shanna Peacock, Stacy Church (Jacob), and Jimmy Norton; seven great-grandchildren, Kaylee Meis, Oliver Meis, Noah Peacock, Haley Church, Bryce Church, Taylor Norton and Chase Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Michael Starling, Chris Starling, Kirby Starling, Jody Haddan, Tim Taylor and Jimmy Norton.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Shirley Lane of Kindred Hospice and Vicki Jones for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Trammell during her illness.
