Jeffrey W. Mayo, 58, passed away March 16, 2016, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center, after a brief illness.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 5-7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Byrd directing. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Glioblastoma Multiforme, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
Affectionately known as "Mailman", he served the United States Postal Service for 30 years. Prior to becoming a postman, Jeff served his country in the United States Navy for several years. His caring nature and genuine love for people moved him to "cater" on his days off for local medical offices on his mail route. Free of charge, Jeff provided a hot meal for those often too busy to leave their stations for lunch. Jeff had a zest for life and all it had to offer. He was an avid golf player and loved to ride his Harley.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, James "J.R." W. Mayo and Jimmy Wayne Mayo.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife Andrea "Nikki" Eggleston-Mayo; his daughter, Samantha Alexis Mayo; and his two stepchildren, Tyson O. Eggleston and Kara Nicole Eggleston.
Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home, (334) 983-6604, is in charge of arrangements. Please call us or visit www.SunsetMemorialPark.com for more information.
