MONTGOMERY. . .Jennifer Diane Adams, a resident of Montgomery, died Saturday morning, November 11, 2017, in her childhood home in Headland. She was 53.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 13, 2017, in the Headland United Methodist Church with Reverend Misty Barrett, Reverend Norman C. Simmons and Pastor Larry Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. Monday in the Family Life Center of the church.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Headland Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 103 West King Street, Headland, AL 36345.


            Jennifer Adams was born November 2, 1964, in Pensacola, Florida and was reared in Headland. In 1971, she was Little Miss Headland and was first runner up in the Little Miss Peanut pageant. She was an accomplished pianist who served her church and community. Jennifer was a 1982 graduate of Headland High School and was awarded the Kathryn Walden Scholarship to the University of Montevallo where she received a B.S. Degree in Home Economics Education in 1986. She furthered her education at the University of Alabama by receiving a M.S. Degree in Human Environmental Sciences in 1989. She studied in England with the British Broadcasting Company with an internship in Human Environmental Sciences. From 1988 until 2007, Jennifer taught Family & Consumer Science in the Tuscaloosa City School System. While teaching in Tuscaloosa, she became a National Board Certified teacher in 2005. At the time of her illness, Jennifer was employed by the State of Alabama, Department of Education, as an Alabama Education Specialist and the FCCLA State Advisor from 2007 until present. She received a National Award as the FCCLA State Advisor of the Year in 2014. Jennifer was a member of the Headland United Methodist Church and attended the First United Methodist Church of Montgomery.


            Surviving relatives include her parents, Jerry D. and Jean Skyles Adams;  two sisters, Janet Ethridge (Michael Morgan); and Julia Wells (Jim), all of Headland; a brother, Dr. Jeff Adams (Pam Carmichael), Montgomery; nieces and nephews, Holly Ethridge Hewitt (John Russell), Caroline Brannon Adams, Catherine Davis Adams, Andrew Michael Morgan, Elizabeth Ellen Wells, John Kirkland Adams and Emma Carolyn Wells.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be John Espy, Steve Williams, Sherrill Singleton, Dallas Hartzog, John Adams and Andrew Morgan.
