Jerome “Jerry” Donaldson of Elba, AL (Ino community) passed away on Sunday, June 06, 2021. He was 75.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 at Goodman Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Jerry was born in Geneva Co, AL (Hacoda) on December 24, 1945 to the late Allen Wesley “Jack” and Flora Thelma Bludsworth Donaldson. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend. He enjoyed living in the country, raising cattle, cutting and baling hay and pecan farming. He spent his weekends camping, riding his horse, Satin, fishing and spending time doing anything outdoors. He believed in hard work and lived life to the fullest. He was a devout Christian and an active and faithful member of Goodman Baptist Church. Jerry loved gospel music and watching classic western movies. He faithfully served his country with the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam era. Following his service to his country, he worked as a Florida Highway Patrolman, where he retired as a Lieutenant. He was born in Alabama and retired in Alabama. One might say that his life had come full circle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Janet Marie Zwak Donaldson on May 04, 2021, one brother, Ford Donaldson and one sister, Jeretha Fletcher.
He is survived by his son, Kelly Donaldson; daughters, Laurie Ramsey and Rebecca Zvirblis; granddaughter, Haley Zvirblis, brother, Allen “Skinner” Donaldson and his wife, Margie; sister, Rhonda Atkins, numerous special nieces and nephews whom he loved. His nephew, Alvin Donaldson was especially close to his heart. They spent countless hours together on the farm just solving the world’s problems and giving their perspective on life. Jerry also leaves many cousins, friends and church family who will forever cherish his memory.
