Jerry Franklin Pike

Jerry Franklin Pike, age 81 of Dothan passed away early Sunday morning, August 12, 2018 at his home following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry will be held at 2PM Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Cornerstone Church, 2685 John D. Odom Road, Dothan, with Pastors Bobby Marks and Dayne Massey officiating and Family First Funeral Care directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, August 21, 2018 from 6PM until 8PM at Family First Funeral Care. Flowers will be accepted, or contributions are requested to be sent to Cornerstone Church C/O Building Fund, 2685 John D. Odom Road, Dothan, AL 36303.

Jerry was born September 24, 1936 in Piedmont to the late Ollie Franklin and Ethel Elizabeth Morgan Pike. Jerry lived in Melbourne, FL for many years before moving to Dothan in 1973 where he lived the remainder of his life. In 1960 he began employment with NASA as a rocket engineer where he remained for 13 years. In 1973 he began working at Farley Nuclear Plant until his retirement in 2000. In 1998 Jerry and Charlene began attending Cornerstone Church where Jerry eventually served on the staff for 12 years. Even after he no longer worked at Cornerstone, Jerry was a very active member of the church and everyone knew that he was one that could always be counted on for assistance to anyone that ever needed him. Even after his diagnoses with Parkinson’s, it never slowed him down and he was active until his health just no longer would allow. On Sunday, August 12, 2018, Jerry received the new, whole, healthy body promised to all those who believe in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

He will be remembered as a faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, church member, friend and a Godly man who served the Lord with all his heart. When he had spare time, Jerry loved to prank people and many stories could be told of the funny pranks he would pull. For many years he was an avid golfer and outdoorsman, enjoyed woodworking, scuba diving, hunting, fishing, boating and riding his motorcycle. Small in stature, Jerry Pike was truly a man’s man.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Wells and two sisters. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 62 years, Charlene Dothard Pike of Dothan; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Greg Pike and Brian (Tana) Pike, all of Dothan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry (Kay) Pike and Don (Susan) Pike, all of Piedmont; five grandchildren, Morgan Pike (Joe) Epperson, Erin Pike (Jake) Garzarek, Corey Pike, Chris Wells and Sheridan Pike; five great grandchildren also survive.
