JERRY PARRISH
HEADLAND…Jerry Parrish, a resident of Headland, died late Wednesday afternoon, May 7, 2014, in the emergency room of a Dothan hospital. He was 71.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 10, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with a nephew, Reverend Greg Nowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Newville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Headland Fire and Rescue, 456 East Main Street, Headland, Alabama 36345.
Mr. Parrish was born and reared in Newville, son of the late Hugh Clyde Parrish and Lottie C. Hicks Parrish. He was a 1961 graduate of Newville High School. He lived in Headland most of his adult lifetime. Mr. Parrish was a member of the Newville Baptist Church. He was retired from G & K Services (formerly National Linen Service), where he served as a Supervisor for many years. Mr. Parrish enjoyed spending time with his family and playing the guitar.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Laurie Parrish Goodson (Jeff), a son, Tim Parrish (Rhonda), all of Headland; mother of his children, Martha Wooten McLeroy, Dothan; a sister, Eugenia Nowell (Larry), Headland; and a brother, William J. (Billy Joe) Parrish (Wanda), Malone, FL; six grandchildren, Zachary Parrish (Erica), Ethan Parrish (Taylor), Hayden Parrish, Brooke Goodson, Seth Goodson, and Cole Goodson; a great-grandson, Clayton Parrish; a special friend, Gayle McMullin, Headland; and several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Arnie Nowell, Zachary Parrish, Ethan Parrish, Seth Goodson, Nathan Chase, Chris Parrish, and Cole Goodson.
