Jesse Murdock Hill passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015, in Enterprise, AL. He was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, August 10, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Enterprise with Rev. Ben Bowden officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM EST, Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, Alabama with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall at the church on Monday from 1:30 PM until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church, 302 N. Main St., Enterprise, AL 36330.
Born and raised in Tampa, FL, Mr. Hill graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1952. He then graduated from Columbia University, New York, NY, and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Army and served 23 years as a fixed and rotary wing pilot where he performed two tours in Viet Nam. He retired in 1980 as a Chief Warrant Officer IV, and settled his family in Enterprise, AL. Known as an active photographer, woodworker and reader, Mr. Hill was a long-time member at First Baptist Church Enterprise, AL, where he served as a deacon, choir member and Sunday school teacher. He lived his life with a humble passion for learning, his family and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Ridgeway Hill, Enterprise, AL; 3 sons, Tom Hill, Mary Esther, FL, Dr. Chris Hill (Barbara), Huntsville, AL, David Ridgeway (Robyn), Newnan, GA; 6 grandchildren, Jesse P. Hill, Delray Beach, FL, Elizabeth Hill, Roanoke, VA, Samantha Hill, Blacksburg, VA, James Hill, Huntsville, AL, Jackson Ridgeway, Newnan, GA, Conlan Ridgeway, Newnan, Ga; 2 sisters, Nancy Smilee, Brandon, FL, Bonnie Logan, Largo, FL; a brother, Farrell Hill, Haines City, FL.
