Jessie Franklin Rice, 76, of Dothan passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 at a local hospital.

Military honors will be at 3 pm Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm prior to the honors at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made in memory of Mr. Rice to the charity of your choice.

Mr. Rice was born January 29, 1937 in Pinckard, AL and grew up in the Wiregrass Area. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served for over 10 years. He lived and worked in Michigan for several years prior to returning to Dothan where he retired as a truck driver. Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Luta Rice, and brothers, James and Lee Rice.

Survivors include his wife Judy Rice; sons, Jimmy Rice, Jeff Rice, and Greg Rife; daughters, Kris Tyler, Stephanie Rice, LeeAnn Rice, and Brenda Brassington; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother Joe Rice; sisters, Charlotte Stern, Patsy Keane, and Brenda Grizzle; several nieces and nephews also survive.
