Jewel Mable Pridgen of Samson, Alabama passed away on July 21, 2018 at the age of 100. Born on February 4, 1918 in Geneva County, Alabama, she experienced a Christ-centered life doing what she valued most – caring for her family and extending hospitality to everyone she knew.
Mrs. Pridgen was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, W.D. Pridgen, as well as her parents Bert and Minnie Whigham, five sisters, and six brothers.
She is survived by four sons: Dwight Pridgen (Deborah) of Montgomery, Alabama; Douglas Pridgen (Cathy) of Mobile, Alabama; Bobby Pridgen (Mary Nell) of Sneads, Florida; and Billy Pridgen (Desiree) of Samson, Alabama. Also, she leaves her legacy of doing good to her grandchildren who were special in her life: one granddaughter, Amy Pridgen Waller, and six grandsons: Craig Pridgen, Brent Pridgen, Joshua Pridgen, Scott Pridgen, Stephen Pridgen, and Chris Pridgen; and five great grandchildren: Bryar Pridgen, Brooklyn Pridgen ,Collin Pridgen, Luchian Pridgen, and Nathaniel Pridgen.
Being a follower of Jesus Christ whose values guided every step of her life, she firmly believed that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord.
(Romans 8:28). Although she will no longer be with us in person, her imparted values will be carried forward by those who learned from her example.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, July 24th at Lowery Church of Christ, Lowery, Alabama, with Harry Adkison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. Visitation with family members at the church building will be at 9 o’clock.
