Jill Elizabeth Bruhn

Jill Elizabeth Bruhn, a beacon of love, generosity, and selflessness, took her final bow on June 28, 2023, after a valiant battle with an extended illness. Born on August 5, 1976, in Dothan, Alabama, Jill's life was a testament to resilience and determination, and she leaves behind a legacy of joy and inspiration that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.

Jill's journey began in Dothan, but her spirit and zest for life took her places far beyond the geographic confines of her birthplace. Her academic pursuit led her to receive an Associate's Degree in Medical Transcription from Wallace Community College. Her professional journey was as diverse as her interests, with contributions to the Dale County Courthouse, where she worked diligently in the Tag Office and Property Tax Office, mapping and working with property taxes for the last 14 years. Prior to that, she worked as a medical transcriptionist and lent her skills to SpectraCare. She also spent time working as a substitute teacher, imparting wisdom and nurturing young minds.

Jill was a woman of many passions and interests. She had an undeniable love for music, a penchant for big and gaudy jewelry, and a deep appreciation for cinematic masterpieces like Gone With the Wind, Dirty Dancing, and Steel Magnolias. Yet, her love for a thrilling scary movie was unmatched. She was also an avid Alabama fan and often cheered on the Tide with friends and family. A culinary enthusiast, Jill's chili, homemade chicken and dumplings, pecan pie, and sour candy were legendary. More than just a cook, she was also a poet, penning lines that touched the heart and stirred the soul.

Jill is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Judson (Emily) Thompson; grandchildren, Greyson Thompson and Lyncoln Thompson; parents, George Wesley and June Enfinger Thompson; sister, Julie (Woodie) Shaver; aunt, Joan and Corky Adams; nephews, Stephen (Shanna) Elliott and John Wesley Shaver; great nephew, Midian Elliott; and special friends, Cheri Holmes and Leslie Hartzog Enfinger. She is preceded in death by her niece, Katie Tidwell and her grandparents, Zane "George" Thompson and Martha Nell Thompson and Ray Enfinger and Mildred Enfinger.

The legacy of Jill Elizabeth Bruhn is not defined by her departure but by the indelible marks of love, joy, and inspiration she left in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her. Her life was a testament to the power of resilience, the beauty of generosity, and the unlimited capacity of the human spirit to love and care for others. Her spirit will forever echo in our hearts, reminding us to live with courage, love with passion, and give generously without counting the cost.
