James “Jim” A. Hill, Jr., a resident of Ozark, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 following an extended illness. He was 64.


A celebration of his life service with military honors will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11 am.


Mr. Hill was born on July 30, 1954 in Shirley, Massachusetts and joined the US Army at the age of 17. He proudly served for 20 years. Mr. Hill received his paramedic degree from Wallace Community College and was employed with Haynes Ambulance Service at the time of his retirement in 2016. He was an avid fisherman and participated in numerous tournaments throughout his career. He loved spending time with his wife, Cindy, playing golf with his son, Mike, and loved Alabama Football.


Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his father, James A. Hill, Sr., by his sister, Sherry Hill, and by his grandson, Tyler Hill.


He is survived by, his wife of 44 years, Cindy Hill; his sons, James Hill and Mike (MaLeah) Hill; his grandchildren, Timothy (Farha) Tharpe, Madison Hill, Nathan Hill, Aaron Hill, Payton Hill, and Braydon Hill; his great-grandson, William Tharpe; his mother, Avis Hill; his sisters, Sassy Hill, Pam (Rick) Hailey, Avis (Dan) Barrios, and Crystal (Wayne) Ridge; and several nieces and nephews.
