ABBEVILLE. . .Jimmy Beasley, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday afternoon, February 26, 2017, at home. He was 83.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 28, 2017, in the Oakey Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, near Abbeville, with Reverend Teddy Ward officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 1512 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301 or to the Oakey Grove Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Winnie Murray, 1043 Columbia Road, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mr. Beasley was born and reared in Shorterville, son of the late James Laus Beasley and Ida Mayo Beasley. He served his country in the Army National Guard in the Abbeville unit. Mr. Beasley lived in Dothan, Panama City and the Oakey Grove community before moving to Abbeville eight years ago. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Beasley was employed as a foreman in concrete and asphalt paving most of his adult lifetime and formerly worked for Sikes Concrete in Panama City. In earlier years, he was self-employed as the owner and operator of Midway Concrete in Midland City. Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by a son, Greg Beasley.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Sue Kirkland Beasley; a daughter, Susan Lowe (Dan), Tallahassee, FL; a son, Dr. Jeff Beasley (Von), Dothan; four sisters, Bonnie Whitehurst, Donalsonville, GA; Annette Brown and Merlene Sandlin both of Dothan, and Barbara Miller; two brothers, Ray Beasley (Joan), Opelika; and Henry Beasley (Neenia), Huntsville; six grandchildren, Trishka Pespotakin (Chris), Christopher Beasley, Adam Chappell, Nicholas Beasley, Savannah Langford and Jay Wright (Stacy); six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
