Jimmy Clark Skipper, Sr. a resident of Newton, Alabama passed away at his residence on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. He was 81.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11:00 am in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Archie Howell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
Jimmy was born on November 5, 1940 in Grimes, Alabama to Henry Clope Skipper, Jr. and Mavis Merline Clark Skipper. Once Jimmy was born, Grimes was never the same. He graduated from Headland High School in 1959. Later, he earned his Masters degree from the University of Montevallo. Jimmy taught at Dale County High School before moving to Southdale Middle School in Pinckard until his retirement in 1992. He loved to weld, fishing and dove hunting. Jimmy enjoyed traveling and visited Europe, the Bahamas, Australia, Argentina and London.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Cindy Skipper.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sara Skipper; his son, J. Clark (Cheryl) Skipper; his daughter, Connie (Scott) Kirkland; his grandchildren, Garret West and Alana West; his brothers, Joe (Connie) Skipper and John (Judy) Skipper; and his nieces and nephews, Mike Skipper, Mark Skipper, Jill Albert, Janie Hutto, Jay Henry Skipper, Lynn Colin, Brandon Johnson and Brad Johnson.
