Jimmy Lawrence Snell, 72, of Dothan passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 11 am Monday, July 8, 2013 at Pathway Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy White, Rev. Bill Bastien, and Rev. Bob Zbinden officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11 am prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.

Mr. Snell was born September 9, 1940 in Geneva County and lived there the early years of his life prior to moving to Naples, FL. He was a deputy sheriff for Collier County for 28 years until his retirement as a Lieutenant in 1998. He moved to Dothan in 2005 where he was a member of Pathway Baptist Church. Mr. Snell was preceded in death by his father Heston Snell.

Survivors include his wife Dotti Snell of Dothan; a son Michael Snell (Patty) of Toney, AL; a daughter Rhonda Tibbetts (Craig) of Naples, FL; step-children, Dave Moore of Naples, FL, and Michelle Hickman (Jeff) of Montgomery, TX; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; his mother Martha Pearl Snell of Lake Placid, FL; a brother Jerry Snell (Linda) of Naples, FL; sisters, Glenda Carney (Howard) of Lake Placid, FL, and Wanda Stull (Robert) of Ft. White, FL; several nieces and nephews.
