Jimmy Lee Roberts, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 79 on March 6, 2024, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Born on August 13, 1944, in Lexington, Kentucky, Jimmy was a man of integrity and warmth, whose kindness and loving nature touched all who knew him.
Having proudly retired as a devoted truck driver from Florida Rock & Tank Industries. Jimmy spent his years on the road forming lasting friendships and was well-respected within the trucking community. His dedication to his work was paralleled only by his commitment to his family.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, of 36 years Bobbie Jean Strickland, three sisters, three brothers, and his late son, Jimmy Lee Roberts Jr.
Jimmy's love story with his beloved wife, Bobbie Jean Strickland, spanned over 50 years until her passing. Together they built a beautiful family, which he leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his children: Christopher Roberts (Nancey), Joseph Roberts (Shelby), Melisa Carico, and Billy Hodgins (Carrie). The joys of his life were perhaps best reflected in the eyes of his eleven grandchildren: Brandy, Jeremy, Kendall, Hannah, Tyler, Casey, Alyssa, Josee Roberts, Jordan Spivey, and Julie and Cody Hodgins whose achievements and adventures brought him endless pride.
An avid hunter and loyal fan of Yellowstone, He enjoyed pastime running hunting dogs, and chasing deer. His hardworking nature was evident not only in his career but also in his personal life, where he strove to provide a loving home and valuable life lessons.
