Jimmy S. Metcalf, a resident of Midland City, passed away on December 29, 2020. He was 72.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Charles Metcalf officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Jimmy was born on September 6, 1948 to the late Jack and Javie Metcalf. He grew up in the Midland City area, where he attended Dale County High School. After high school, Jimmy was a driver for Dolly Madison Trucking Company. For most of his working years, he worked with the police force. He served his community as Chief of Police for Midland City and later Napier Field. Several years later, Jimmy became an ordained minister and served as an Elder at the Bread of Life Ministries. He was deeply loved by his family and friends. Jimmy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Linda Metcalf Borah; and his granddaughter, Kayla Metcalf Eubanks.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Patti Metcalf; children, Bobbie (Billy) Houston, Selina Robinson (Daltrey Fryer), Scott (Sherri) Metcalf, Elizabeth (Taylor) Wooden, James Metcalf (Evan Murray), and Joshua Metcalf; 13 grandchildren, Ryan Hartzog, Victoria Hartzog, Rae Houston, Daltrey Fryer, Desiree Fryer, Deshawn Fryer, Pinka Wellington, Jacob Metcalf, Tyler Metcalf, Kaley (Joshua) Adams, Jessica (Cody) Spann, Nikki Morgan, and John Wooden; eight great-grandchildren; his brothers, Charles Metcalf and Jackie (Janet) Metcalf; and several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Hartzog, Jacob Metcalf, Cameron Eubanks, Kimble Adamson, Charles Adamson, John Martin and honorary pallbearer, Tyler Metcalf.
