Mr. Jimmy Terrell Turner, a native of Dothan, Alabama, joined  his Heavenly Father, our Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, November 1, 2011.


Jimmy was born in Dothan on January 21, 1954, was a 1972 graduate of Dothan High School and attended the University of Alabama. Mr. Turner’s adult working life was spent in the home health care industry, where he excelled as an independent sales representative for Durable Home Medical Equipment.


He loved being around the water and spent the last years of his life living on the Chattahoochee River with his companion “Black Puppy”. Jimmy was also an avid University of Alabama Crimson Tide Fan.


Funeral services for Mr. Turner will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 4 P. M. from the Chapel of Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Brother Kenneth Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Dr. Jerry Grandstaff officiating, Ward Wilson Funeral Home Directing. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Chapel from 3 until 4 P. M.


In lieu of flowers, memorials, honoring Jimmy,  may be made to Southside Baptist Church or one’s favorite charity.


Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, H. H. (Hub) Turner and mother, Audrey Turner. He loved his parents so much and was a devoted son.


Jimmy is survived by his brother, Hadley Turner of Carriere, Mississippi, Sister, Mary Ann McGrady and husband Greg, Nephew Patrick McGrady, Niece Emma McGrady, several aunts and uncles, including Myra Faye Hall, Jewell Dowling, Ray Smith, several cousins, including Glenda Hatcher, who was so supportive during his mother’s recent illness and loss. Jim cared for his mother tirelessly despite his own health problems.  He loved her dearly and his proudest accomplishment was bringing her home and caring for her in her final days. The family would like to acknowledge and thank his best friends, Skip and Sharon Powell , Joe and Lanelle Smith, Jeffrey Tyler and Donny and Kathy Bowling.


Active pallbearers will be Patrick McGrady, Donny Bowling, David Grimes, Skip Powell, Joe Smith and Jeffrey Tyler. Honorary pallbearer will be Greg McGrady. The family will be at the home of Jim’s sister, Mary Ann McGrady, 214 Foxfire Dr., Dothan, Al.
