NEWTON. . .Jimmy Wayne “Pete” Hicks, Jr., a resident of Newton, died Sunday morning, February 25, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 43.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 P.M. Wednesday, February 28, 2024, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend George Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:30 P.M. at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Down Syndrome Friends, P.O. 9551, Dothan, AL 36304.
Pete Hicks was born and raised in Napier Field and Newton and was a graduate of Dale County High School. Pete was employed by Walmart Distribution Center in Brundidge as a Computer Technician in the IT Department. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Wayne Hicks, Sr., his grandparents, Mabel West, William Johnny Ward, Nettie Ward and Quinton and Nora Stanford.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Drew Hicks, Kade Hicks and Trey Hicks, all of Headland; his mother, Brenda Kay Ward Stanford, his step-father, Dean Stanford, both of Newton; a sister, Tracey Stanford, Dothan; three brothers, Danny Hicks (Amanda), Perry, GA; Eric Stanford (Heather), Newton, AL; and Jason Stanford (Christy), Newton, AL; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Kimmie King; mother of his children, Misty Forrester, Headland, AL.
