JIMMY  WILLIAMS



NEWVILLE. . .Jimmy Williams, a resident of Newville, died early Tuesday afternoon, January 29, 2013, at his home. He was 90.


            Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 1, 2013, in the Old Center United Methodist Cemetery, near Newville, with Reverend Robert B. Parnell officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends at the home of a daughter, Wilma Parnell, and also following the graveside services.


            Mr. Williams was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and was reared in Walker County, Alabama. He lived in Eight Mile, Alabama most of his adult lifetime before moving to the Old Center community of Henry County in 1996. Mr. Williams retired from Teamster’s Union as a truck driver in Mobile. He was employed for many years as a truck driver for the Air Conditioning Engineers in Mobile. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Davis Williams and a brother, Robert O. Williams.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Eva Pearl Thomas Williams, Newville; four daughters, Wilma Parnell and husband, Rev. Robert B. Parnell, Newville; Peggy Hollis and husband, Winston, Paragould, AR; Sallie Parnell and husband, Lawrence, Walker, LA; and Sandra Wells and husband, David, Paragould, AR; two sons, Richard Williams and wife, Judy, Warner Robins, GA; Jackie Williams, Springville, AL; a sister, Juanita Rogers and husband, Rudy, Theodore, AL; two brothers, Francis Lee Williams and wife, Toshiko, Browns Mill, N.J.; and Travis Williams and wife, Nancy, Lucedale, MS; twelve grandchildren; and twenty seven great-grandchildren.
