HEADLAND. . .Joan Drew Weems, a resident of Headland, passed away Monday morning, November 25, 2024, at her home. She was 73.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 30, 2024, in the Headland Methodist Church with Reverend Charles W. Price, Jr. and Jaclyn Clark Turner officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. Saturday in the Family Life Center of the church. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Headland Methodist Church, 103 West King Street, Headland, AL 36345.
Joan Weems was born in Norfolk, Virginia and was reared in Memphis, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Ronald Earl Drew, Sr. and Helen Condra Drew. She formerly lived in Mobile, Alabama where she received a Master’s Degree in Art from the University of South Alabama. Joan was retired, due to disability, from Northview High School as an Art teacher in 2005. She was a member of the Headland Methodist Church where she served as Youth Director and taught Sunday School. After retirement, Joan served as a Counselor/Art Therapist for Living Waters in Headland.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Lynn Weems; two daughters, Jaclyn Clark Turner (Rev. Brian), Pinckard, AL; and Monica Weems Pope (Cory), of Georgia; two sons, Nathan Clark (Sofia), Norfolk, VA; and Jamie Weems (Kristina) of Georgia; a sister, Jeanette Blindauer (Harvey), Mobile, AL; a brother, Ronald E. Drew (Lynn), Blakely, GA; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
