Joan H. Devine, a resident of Newton, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at her residence. She was 64.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 3 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rickey Devine officiating. Burial will follow in The Newton City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3 pm on Friday.

Joan was born on June 4, 1954 in Newton, Alabama and resided there all her life. She was employed with the Dale County Board of Education for 24 years until her retirement in 2009. Joan enjoyed fishing and was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Devine; her children, Danny Wayne Devine, Zackery Devine and Sandy (Jeffrey) Smith; her grandchildren, Macy, Justin, Natalie and Aden; her sister, Audrey Dean; and several nieces and nephews.
