HEADLAND…Joan Hamm Money, a resident of Headland, died Tuesday morning, March 3, 2015, at Westside Terrace in Dothan. She was 86.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 5, 2015, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverend Ricky Sowell and Dr. Bob Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church Building Fund, 2506 State Highway 134 East, Headland, AL 36345.


            Mrs. Money was born and reared in the Bethlehem Community, daughter of the late Ralph Carlton Hamm and Joyce Leone Redding Hamm. She was an active member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, the WMU, the Joy Parker Sunday School Class and formerly taught Sunday School. Mrs. Money was a former member of the Henry County Historical Group and was on the book committee that helped to compile the “Henry Heritage Book”, that was published in 2002 on the history of Henry County, Alabama.  She was retired from the Alabama State Department of Human Resources in Houston County. Mrs. Money was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Howard (Pete) Money, a brother, Gerald C. Hamm, and an identical twin sister, Janet Gamble.


            Surviving relatives include four sons, Richard Money (Terri), Headland; Steve Money (Lory), Fayetteville, GA; Shane Money (Janet) and Chris Money (Susan), all of Headland; a sister, Hortense Holmes, Birmingham; two sisters-in-law, Othell M. White, Prattville; and Iris Money, Headland; a brother-in-law, Earl Gamble, Headland; four grandchildren, Leigh Money Watson (Tyrone), Samantha Money Garrett (Chipper), Kristen Money and Jolie Money; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Shane Watson and Grayson Powell Watson; several nieces and nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Mark Gamble, Frank Gamble, Curry Parker, Johnny White, Phillip Holmes, and Paul Peterson.
