Joan Patricia Addesa passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Piedmont Hospital in Snellville, GA. She was 88 years old.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Aubrey Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
Joan was born on May 2, 1934 to the late Charles D and Stella Boudravage McAllister in Carbondale, PA. In 1965, She married John J Addessa who was an Air Force Veteran and served his country for 18 years. While they were stationed in Germany, she and John would collect antique clocks and antique candy dishes and tea cups.
Joan enjoyed working at a dress factory in Carbondale, PA. She was so efficient working and making garments, she set the standard and her employers wanted for other employees to perform as well as she did. She was a talented seamstress who loved sewing and would make all her children’s school clothing. She also made rugs during her younger years. In later years, Joan worked at McLeans Furniture in Sebring Fl and sold furniture with her husband. She to Dothan in 1997 and In her spare time, Joan would plant beautiful flowers, play the piano and accordion, and cook wonderful meals, including her delicious spaghetti and apple pies.
Joan was a Christian who had a strong faith in the Lord Jesus, and she prayed diligently for all her family. She faithful member of the First Assembly of God on West Main St. in Dothan, AL.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles D and Stella Boudravage McAllister; her husband John J Addesa; her siblings, Marion Balsavage, Rosemarie Tech, and Charles McAllister; and her son-in-law, Reid Wall.
Joan is survived by her children, Anne Marie Addesa Hollifield and her husband, Paul, Frances Addesa Wall, Nancy Addesa Marquart and her husband Steve, and Joanie Addesa; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
