 DOTHAN… JoAnn DePriest Bailey, a resident of Dothan, died late Thursday night, March 10, 2022, in Noland Hospital Dothan.  She was 77.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 14, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Hosea Parker officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oakey Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, near Abbeville.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the mortuary.


Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Malvern Baptist Church, P.O. Box 97, Malvern, AL 36349. 


Mrs. Bailey was born and reared in the Laurel, Mississippi area, daughter of the late Howard DePriest and Earnestine Hutchinson DePriest.  She lived in the Dothan area most of her lifetime.  Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Malvern Baptist Church.  She was formerly employed by the Midland City Police Department as a Dispatcher.  Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Ellis Bailey, two sons, James Matthew Summers and Christopher Summers, and a brother, Larry DePriest.


Survivors include two daughters, Lynda Frerichs and Amber Frerichs, two sons Cody Frerichs (Ai) and Michael Summers, two brothers, David DePriest (Angie), and Steven DePriest (Denise), a granddaughter, Kimberly Summers, seven great-grandchildren, Serenity Frerichs, Matthew Culpepper, Jamie Watson, Alyssa Summers, Shyanne Freeman, Kayla Milton and Samantha Watson.
