Cottonwood, Alabama…..JoAnn Gertrude Harden, a loving and gentle soul, passed away on June 16, 2023, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 79. Born on August 17, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Morrell Morgan.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Berean Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Monday, June 19, 2023 from 6-8 P.M. at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association of America.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, of 32 years Roland Harden, her son, John Harden; sister, Mattie Ree Blalock; great-niece, Brittany Lell and nephew, Chris Holley. She is survived by her daughter, Joy Gray; her stepson, Roland Griffin Jr; her sisters, Annette Spina (Nick) and Helen Wright (Allan); her granddaughter, Kristen Griffin and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. JoAnn also leaves behind her special friend, Judy Blankenship, who was a constant source of support and companionship.
JoAnn dedicated 35 years of her life to the Dothan City School System as a dietician, where she touched the lives of countless students and staff members. A woman of many interests, JoAnn found joy in singing in her church and fishing. She was known for her love of cooking, often sharing her delicious meals with family and friends. JoAnn’s love for her family was evident in the time and care she devoted to them, creating a warm and nurturing environment for all who entered her home.
In the hearts of those who knew her, JoAnn Gertrude Harden will forever be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her gentle spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the lives of those she touched.
