SMSgt Joe Harrell Williams, Sr., USAF (ret), 91, of Enterprise, Alabama, went to be with his Savior on October 21, 2022, after a brief battle with service-related and age-related challenges.  He was fortunate to be


surrounded by his loving son and church family during his final days.


 


Papa Joe will be remembered as a loving father, brother, son, airman, fire inspector, Deacon Emeritus,


and lifetime golfer.  He loved serving his Savior, whether through Vacation Bible School, supporting church softball, Shriners, or as the Sunday School attendance recorder.  He also enjoyed watching football.  Joe will always be remembered as a wise, loving, funny, and tenderhearted man.  He will be greatly missed.


 


Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sara; his daughter, Karen; son, Captain Joe Harrell


(Hal) Williams, Jr., USAF; his father and mother, J. T. and Annie Maude Williams; his brother, Hastel


Williams (Anne); and his sister, Geraldine Gilmore (Clyde).


 


He is survived by his son, Colonel Thomas Lee Williams (Ashley), USAF (ret); and two grandsons, Noah Thomas and Carson Luke Williams; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.


 


A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29,


2022, with Dr. Michael Mynatt and Reverend Bill Grimes officiating.  A family and friends visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise.  The family will also be receiving family and friends at Hillcrest Baptist Church on October 29, one hour before the service at 9:00 a.m.  Burial will follow with military honors at Meadowlawn Cemetery, Enterprise, Alabama.
