Joe L. "Joey" Nunez, Jr., 19, a resident of Dothan passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Harrelson officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Joey was born on December 14, 1997 in Hinesville, GA. He and his family lived in Germany and Panama City, FL prior to moving to Dothan 10 years ago. He attended Dothan High School and loved playing the guitar and computing. Joey was a great listener to his friends and always provided heartfelt counsel.

Joey was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Bonnie Bush. Survivors include his mother, Lisa M. Nunez; grandmother, Sue Atwell; sister, Tara (Josh) Mitchek; aunt, Dorothy McArdle; great aunts and uncles, Debi and Brian Tabb, Karla and Steve Smalley; nieces and nephews, Hunter, Addison, Ava Grace, and Beckett; girlfriend, Kaitlynn Covington and numerous friends.
