John Arrie Capps, Jr. a resident of Dothan and formerly of Headland, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at a local hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Liberty United Methodist Church, 341 County Rd 92, Abbeville, AL. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.

Mr. Capps was born in Henry County, AL and spent most of his life in Headland and graduated from Troy State University. He was employed with the Houston County DHR then was the Director of the Henry County DHR for many years until his retirement. John enjoyed playing Dominoes on the square in Headland and he was a member of the Headland United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Arrie Capps, Sr. and Kathryn Solomon Capps.

Survivors include his wife Melanie Capps of Dothan; His children, Chris (Stacey) Capps of Headland, and Kelli (Scott) Hull of Alpharetta, GA; grandchildren, Kathryn and Brandon Capps of Headland, Caroline and Alec Hull of Alpharetta, GA; step-children, Alan Shayne Warren and Penny Lynn Warren Lovett; several step-grandchildren; his brother, Ralph Solomon of Headland; former wife, Mary Ann Swann of Headland; his aunt, Mary Emma Solomon Carr; brothers-in-law, Scotty Hudspeth and Richard Gordon Hudspeth; sisters-in-law, Faye Dozier, Lucy Brannon, and Merle Williams.
