ECHO, ALABAMA. . .John Berry MacFadden, a resident of Echo, Alabama, died Thursday afternoon, January 21, 2021, at his home. He was 83.
There are no funeral or memorial services planned at this time. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. MacFadden was born and reared in Jacksonville, Florida, son of the late Marshall William MacFadden and Mildred Joyce Malphurs MacFadden. He lived in Jacksonville before moving to the Echo Community of Dale County, Alabama in 1997. Mr. MacFadden was a member of the Shepherds Chapel Church in Gravette, Arkansas. He was retired as a Long-Distance Truck Driver. Mr. MacFadden was preceded in death by a son, John Berry MacFadden, Jr, two grandchildren, Dillan Ring and Brian Miller, a sister, Dixie Brady, and a brother, George MacFadden.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Malphurs MacFadden; five daughters, Jolene MacFadden, O’Brien, FL; Carla Ring (Milton), Jacksonville, FL; Donna Miller (Les), Bunnell, FL; Virginia Pellicer (Charles), Bunnell, FL; and Gidget Veen (Joseph), Holly Hill, FL; a son, Tony MacFadden, O’Brien, FL; a sister, Margaret Abernathy, Astatula, FL; a brother, Wade MacFadden (Kathy), South Daytona Beach, FL; a brother-in-law, Johnny Malphurs (“Peanut”); twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; his Alabama family, Keith Mitchell (Nicky), Presley and Jordyn Thompson and Flynt Grantham; a special Doctor for over twenty years, Dr. John Wessner and staff; many friends and caregivers and special friends, Terry Grantham and “Bubba”.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Kindred Care and Kindred Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mr. MacFadden during his illness.
