JOHN BRYANT STRINGER, JR.
DOTHAN… John Bryant Stringer, Jr., a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at his home. He was 79.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Sardis, Alabama with the Reverend George Wood, Dr. David Thomas and Woods Culpepper officiating. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 3201 County Road 12, Sardis, Alabama 36775, or the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, Parish Care, 205 Holly Lane, Dothan, Alabama 36301.
Mr. Stringer was born in Selma, Alabama to the late John Bryant Stringer, Sr., and Margaret Clark Stringer, and was raised in Pleasant Hill. After high school, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Alabama, where he was also a member of Phi Delta Theta. He additionally obtained a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Livingston University. He retired from the Selma City School System, and farmed in his spare time. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed turkey hunting, gardening and watching Alabama football.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stringer is preceded in death by his sister, Meg Lambert.
Surviving relatives include his wife Suzanne Judd Stringer; daughters, Rebecca Stephan (Keith) and Betsy Duncan; his grandchildren, Brax Duncan, Abby Duncan, Alex Duncan and Reese Stephan; and many other loving family and friends.
