John “Doc” Holladay, 86, of Dothan went to be with his Lord on March 7, 2015.
He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Helen Adams Holladay; his son, Tim (Raylene) Holladay of New Port Richey, FL; special caregiver, Patsy Carter; special aunts, Lula Outlaw of Foley, AL and Geraldine Hall of Dothan; granddaughters, Mia (Steve) Rushing of Sneedville, TN and Tiffany (Zach) Drewes of New Port Richey, FL; great-grandchildren, Holly (Chris) Rodes of Sneedville, TN, Whitney (Jason) Canada of Knoxville, TN, Timothy (Maggie) Rushing of Knoxville, TN, Matt Rushing of Sneedville, TN, and Paytin Drewes of New Port Richey, FL; great-great-grandchildren, Ayden, Asher, and Amira Rodes of Sneedville, TN and Luca Rushing of Knoxville, TN; nieces, Nancy (John) Cottle of Destin, FL and Ava (Wayne) Brackin of Cottonwood, AL.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, John Allen Holladay, his parents, James Augustus and Irene Ellington Holladay of Cottonwood, AL; a brother, Paul Holladay of Montgomery, AL; and a sister, Virginia Hartman of Cottonwood, AL.
Doc, as he was affectionately called, spent over 40 years in the insurance industry serving 35 years as a claims superintendent for State Farm in Atlanta, GA. He was a 1948 graduate of Dothan High School, president of the Rehobeth Lions Clus (Decatur, GA), member of Decatur Church of Christ and Dothan Church of Christ (formerly Appletree where he and his family were charter members).
The family would like to thank Dr. Morriss, III and Dr. Burgess for their physical and spiritual care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 with Brother Joe Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Ramah Church Cemetery in Cottonwood with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30, Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home and from 10 AM until service time, Wednesday, March 11, 2015.
The family will be accepting flowers.
