SHORTERVILLE. . .John E. Fleming, a resident of Shorterville, died Tuesday morning, April 14, 2015, in Noland Hospital in Dothan. He was 57.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, April 16, 2015, in the Shorterville Baptist Church with Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Shorterville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Rossie Money, 2457 County Road 91, Abbeville, AL 36310.
John Fleming was a lifelong resident of Henry County, near Shorterville, son of the late Charles Bennett Fleming and Margaret Wood Fleming. He attended Abbeville High School and Wallace Community College. A former employee of Daniel Construction Company at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, John worked several years as a carpenter prior to his disability which occurred in 1984. He was a member of the Shorterville Baptist Church. John was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Thomas Gerald (Jerry) Fleming, and Harold W. Fleming.
Surviving relatives include two sisters, Linda Gayle Hayes (James), Dothan; and Susan Hutto (Jimmy), Abbeville; a brother, William G. Fleming (Robin), Baker Hill; a sister-in-law, Peggy Fleming, Shorterville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Ben Fleming, Clay Fleming, Allen Fleming, Wayne Fleming, James Hayes, and Robert Wayne Milner.
