John Francis Sidonio, Sr., 86, a resident of Dothan passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Moose Lodge at www.mooseheart.org.
Mr. Sidonio was born June 14, 1928 in Stanford, CT and lived there the early part of his life and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and served for several years. He. also served as a police officer with the Ridgefield, CT Police Department. He resided in Cape Coral, FL prior to moving to Dothan in 2005. Mr. Sidonio was of the Catholic Faith and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Capo Coral, FL, and the DAV and VFW in Dothan. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Ann Whalen and his sister Moie Morris.
Survivors include his sons, Robert F. Sidonio Sr. and John Sidonio Jr.; his daughters, Sioux Sidonio, Sandee Robinson, Lynne Fish, Angela Ying, Anita Halsey, Marie Elana Carroll, and Cheryl Ward; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
