PHENIX CITY. . .John Franklin Holder, a resident of Phenix City, died Tuesday morning , March 15, 2016, in the St. Francis Hospital in Columbus. He was 70.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. (CDT) Friday, March 18, 2016, in the Kirkland Cemetery, near Headland, Alabama, with a son, Wayne Tice officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
Mr. Holder was born in Martin, Tennessee and was reared in Tucson, Arizona. He served his country in the Air National Guard and attended the University of Arizona. Mr. Holder was formerly employed by American Buildings of Eufaula as Vice-President of Trucking. He was also a master carpenter and enjoyed building furniture at his home. Mr. Holder lived in Eufaula before moving to Phenix City several years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Carl Holder and Marjorie Rachel Holder, and a son, Thomas Jeffrey Tice.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Nell Kirkland Holder, Phenix City; a daughter, Barbara McFerrin (David), Phenix City; two sons, Wayne Tice, Hurtsboro, AL; and Charles Tice (Jan), Smiths, AL; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
