MIDLAND CITY. . .John Marcus Beverett, a resident of Midland City, died early Monday morning, May 6, 2024, at his home. He was born July 31, 1941.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 9, 2024, in the Mt. Enon Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Beam and Reverend Danny Quincey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Enon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Larry Eldridge, 10622 South County Road 59, Midland City, AL 36350.
Mr. Beverett was born and reared in the Mt. Enon community, between Midland City and Echo, son of the late John Alexander Beverett and Ina Mae Preston Beverett. He was a graduate of Midland City High School and attended Sparks State Technical College in Eufaula. He was also a graduate of Alabama Aviation & Technical College in Ozark. Mr. Beverett was formerly employed by Champion Wood Products and Cutler Egg Products both in Abbeville. He was also engaged in farming most of his adult lifetime. Mr. Beverett retired from Murphy Trucking Company of Abbeville as a truck driver. He was a member of Mt. Enon Baptist Church. Mr. Beverett formerly lived in Shorterville and Abbeville before returning to Dale County in 2022.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Nina Avery Beverett; a daughter, Karen Beverett Buscemi (Tony), Madisonville, TN; three sons, Tim Beverett (Tonia), Midland City; Terry Beverett (Jowe Glynn), Ozark; and Tony Beverett (Rhonda), Dothan; a sister, Martha Jean Munroe, Havana, FL; two brothers, Joey Beverett (Mary), Midland City; and Jessie Beverett, Dothan; grandchildren, Jessica Buscemi (Kelvin), Justin Buscemi (Ashley), Bridgett Cook (Josh), Dustin Beverett, Michael Denham, Victoria Allen (Cody), Mikeal Beverett, John Ryan Kirkman and Nicholaus Kirkman; great-grandchildren, Royce, Galo, Sylvan, Everett, Harrison and Avery; several nieces and nephews.
