HEADLAND. . .John Marion “Knot” Baker, a resident of Headland, died Monday, May 22, 2017, at his home. He was 91.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, May 25, 2017 in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Harrison Steege officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary.
Mr. Baker was born and reared in Henry County, son of the late John Aaron Baker and Iris Mae Hickman Baker. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Baker lived in Atlanta from 1954 until 1980 when he returned to Henry County. While a resident of Atlanta, he was employed by Commercial Cold Storage as a Foreman. He was a member of the Tumbleton Community Pentecostal Church. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by two sisters, Othell Baker and Evelyn Kilpatrick, and two brothers, Jessie Willard Baker and M.D. Baker, twin great-great-great nephews, Jackson and Oliver George, and sister-in-law, Mary Baker.
Surviving relatives include two brothers, William Roscoe Baker, Las Vegas, Nevada; and A.J. Baker (Linda), Dothan; and numerous other relatives, including a special niece, Ruth Jones.
