John P. “ Jack “ Nesbitt
Jack Nesbitt, 80, of Dothan, AL, formally of San Jose, CA, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, after a long illness.
Graveside services will be held at 2 P. M. Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, with Reverend Greg Wilmore officiating, Ward Wilson Funeral Home Directing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made , in Jack’s honor, to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. N. W., Suite 800, Washington, DC or to your favorite charity.
Jack was a truly unique individual and a man of keen intelligence. He joined the U. S. Navy, attended the Naval Academy, and ended his service with an honorable discharge. He received a degree in Philosophy from Brown University and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from U C Berkley. Throughout his career as a Mechanical Engineer, he used his considerable intellect and great command of the English language at several Silicon Valley Companies, including Apple and Biomation Corp., where he met his wife Margie.
Jack spoke several languages, loved math and spent hours writing equations and working through complex problems. He was an avid lover of contests and won 2 nd place in the California Beef Cook-off and most recently, was recognized as a weekly contest winner on the nationally syndicated talk show “ Car Talk “. He was a member of the San Francisco Bay Area Mensa Society.
Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Margie; Stepdaughter Lisa and Matthew Farnen of Savannah, GA; Brother- in -Law Bill and Audrey Merritt; special friends Dean Dahnke, Sunnyvale, CA; Paul and Sue Holden, Santa Clara, CA; Henry D. and Gwen Martin; A. B. Martin family; Kenneth Cole of Washington, DC.
A special thanks goes to employees of Lewis-Smith Supply and to the wonderful care received from the CAN’s, nurses and staff at Extendicare. The family is greatful for the care and attention provided during his final days.
