JOHN PAUL DOREN
BERTHA COMMUNITY. . .John Paul Doren, a resident of the Bertha Community of Dale County, died Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014, in the Noland Hospital in Dothan. He was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 11, 2014, in the New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Shane Traylor and Reverend Dan Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Billy R. Grantham, 826 County Road 7, Skipperville, AL 36374.
Mr. Doren was born and reared in Rossford, Ohio, son of the late Glenn Edward Doren and Clara Belcher Doren. He lived in the Clopton community before moving to the Bertha community in 1967. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and the Echo/Bertha Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Doren was employed most of his lifetime as an electrician.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Peggy Grantham Doren; two daughters, Diane Drinkwater (Terry), and Janet Cooper, all of the Bertha community; six grandchildren, Paul Grantham (Candace), Marie Standifer (Wesley), Alex Grantham (Keaton), David Grantham, Kati Evans (Dan), and Jody Cooper; five great-grandchildren, Grant Standifer, Grey Standifer, McKinley Grantham, Louisa Grantham, and Claire Evans; two brothers, Sam Doren (Shirley), Ft. Worth, TX; and David Doren, Pensacola, FL.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Dan Evans, Jody Cooper, Paul Grantham, Alex Grantham, David Grantham, and Wesley Standifer.
