FOUNTAIN, FLORIDA… John Phillip “Johnny” Murphy, a resident of Fountain, Florida, formerly of Abbeville, died Monday, April 3, 2023, at his home. He was 61.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 8, 2023, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Tim McCraney officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Johnny Murphy was born and reared in the Pilgrim Rest Church community of Henry County. He was a 1980 graduate of Abbeville Christian Academy. Johnny was a member of the Pilgrim Rest Free Will Baptist Church. He was formerly employed at the U.S. Navy Base at Panama City, Florida. Johnny was also formerly employed by BankSouth, Carbo Ceramics of Eufaula and Five Star Credit Union in Cedar Springs, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Murphy, his father, Guy Murphy, Jr., a brother, Steven Guy Murphy, his grandparents, John Hill Berry and Martha Berry, and Guy Murphy, Sr. and Verdell Murphy.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Hailee Murphy, Fountain FL; and Summer Ketchum, Alford, FL; a son Christopher Ketchum (Shannon), Murfreesborro, TN; his mother, Janie Sue Berry Murphy, Abbeville; grandchildren, Harmony Tillman, Steven Tillman and Luke Mears; nephews, Mark Murphy (Christy), Jarrod Murphy (Katie), Heath Murphy (Anna), and Dale Murphy (Sarah); uncles, Charles E. Berry (Marge), and John W. Berry (Barbara), several great-nieces and great-nephews.
