John Robert Stringfellow, Jr., 94, a former resident of Kinsey, died early Saturday morning, July 18, 2015, in the Extendicare Health Center in Dothan.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 21, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Gary Stringfellow officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant United Methodist Church-East, 105 Elmer Road, Ashford, AL 36312.
Mr. Stringfellow was born and reared in Houston County, between Columbia and Ashford, son of the late John Robert Stringfellow, Sr. and Samantha Alberta Hand Stringfellow. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Stringfellow lived in Ashford for many years before moving to Kinsey in 1979. He was a member of the Covenant United Methodist Church-East, formerly the Ashford United Methodist Church. Preceding him in death was his wife and the mother of his children, Janet Bremner Stringfellow, and after her death, his wife Edna Tedder Stringfellow; a son, Chris Stringfellow, five sisters and three brothers.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Carol Sisco (Alex Loach), St. Augustine, FL; Lana Pate, Wilmington, NC; Jan Gilmer (David), Dothan; a son, John W. Stringfellow (Val Gerisher), Frenchtown, NJ; three step-children, Ron Tedder, Barbara Flournoy, and Allen Tedder (Gayle); a sister, Beatrice Stringfellow, Panama City, FL; seven grandchildren, Tina Freeman (Mark), Jean LaFave (Daryll), Dayvon Walton (Rob), Carley Faircloth (Chris), Christal Robertson (Kyle), Macon Clemmons (Amy Trapp), and Kaycee Palmer (Caleb); nineteen great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
