BROOKER, FLORIDA. . .John Thomas (Tony) Gray, Jr., of Brooker, FL departed this life on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. He was born December 2, 1952 in Greenville, Alabama and grew up in Headland where he was a 1973 graduate of Headland High School. In his early adult years, Tony served in the Alabama Army National Guard 1203rd Engineering Detachment located in Headland and later entered the Officer Candidate Program. He also worked for Dothan Oil Mill Company (DOMCO) and eventually relocated to Florida as a Plant Manager for their High Springs facility. He continued serving with the Florida ARNG as the Commander of the 653rd Engineering Detachment and served for fifteen years. Tony also worked for Florida Rock Industries for twenty-six years as General Manager. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Sue Sellers Gray.


            Surviving relatives include his wife of thirty-three years,  Marilyn, and his three children, Ellie Gray Fant (Allen), Morriston, FL; John Thomas Gray, III (Fiance,’Tiffany), Williston, FL; Melissa Nobles Bryson (Shawn), Brooker, FL; five grandchildren, Kyra, Jenna, Marilou, Barron, and Molly; and brothers, Dusty (Sandra) and Chap (late wife Mary).


            Memorial services were held in Florida. His ashes will be laid to rest in Gardens of Memory, near Headland, at a later date.
