AVON. . .John Wesley Green, a resident of Avon, died Friday afternoon, March 26, 2021, at his home. He was 75.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 28, 2021, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Larry Sowell and Amy Green officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Headland. Social distancing guidelines and masks will be observed.
Mr. Green was born and reared in Columbia, son of the late James Warren Green and Verna Mae Grice Green. He lived in Dothan before moving to Avon in 1993. Mr. Green was of the Pentecostal faith. He was formerly employed by Twitchell, Collins Signs and Hedstrom. In later years, he worked as a mechanic in small engine repair at his home. Mr. Green was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Spivey and a brother, James Green.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Linda Patterson Green; a daughter, Amy Green (Earl), Dothan; a step-daughter, Diane Blankenship, Blakely, GA; a sister, Maudie Blackshear, Columbia; a sister-in-law, Betty Green; four grandchildren, Michelle Sanders (Matt), Christina Yeager (Jason), Xander Allain and Austin Allain; three great-grandchildren, Noah Martinez, Alyssa Martinez and Hunter Yeager; several nieces and nephews.
