COLUMBIA. . .John Wesley McDaniel, Jr., a resident of Columbia, died Wednesday morning, October 2, 2024, at his home. He was 77.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 4, 2024 in the Columbia City Cemetery, with Chaplain Daulton Keel officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Headland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dayspring Hospice, 2464 West Main Street, Suite2, Dothan, AL 36301.
Mr. McDaniel was born and reared in Madrid, Alabama, son of the late John Wesley McDaniel, Sr. and Lorraine Kornegay McDaniel. He lived in Columbia most of his adult lifetime. Mr. McDaniel was retired from Georgia Pacific as a Crane Operator after thirty-three years of employment. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Smith McDaniel and all his sisters and brothers.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Pam McDaniel Volf, Columbia; a son, Kenneth McDaniel (Laura), Port St. Joe, FL; grandchildren, Nathan Volf (Maddie), Zack Volf (Jolie) and Hannah Martin (Josh); great-grandchildren, Frances Kay Volf and Cash Martin; numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Nathan Volf, Zack Volf, Chad Hilson, Josh Martin, Glenn McDaniel and Jamison Geier.
