John Williamson, age 88, died peacefully surrounded by family on January 22, 2013 at SAMC.


 


Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25 at Selma Baptist Church with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.


 


Visitation will be at the church from 10 to 11 A.M. Friday, January 25, one hour before the service. Flowers will be accepted.


 


Mr. Williamson was born in Dothan on May 27, 1924.


 


He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Levonia Williamson and their two children, Richard Williamson and wife Janie, and Janice Nall and husband Jerome. Also three grandsons, Casey, Colby, and Caleb Williamson and their wives Jill, Lindsey, and Jamie, and granddaughter Pam Bynum and husband, Eddie as well as six great-grandchildren, and a special sister-in-law, Elizabeth Williamson.


 


Preceded in death were his parents Walter and Velma Williamson, brothers Virgil and wife Blanche Williamson, Raymond and wife Alma, and Gilma Williamson.


 


Mr. Williamson was a devoted World War II veteran. He spent most of his life in the farm supply and agricultural retail business. He managed or owned several businesses such as Ralston Purina Plant, Blakely Farm Store, and Wiregrass Feed and Supply. He and his devoted wife enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and loved gardening and travel.
